November 4th 2012

I can't believe how long it has been since I have updated our "blog" on our recent family events!!

We finally moved into our own place in July 2012 into our #1 pick apartments! We absolutely LOVE these apartments and have signed a year lease being here. Knowing we didn't have furniture for the front room, we began searching for couches. We tried TONS of furniture places and just kept disagreeing on which to get. (Typical "us"! right?) We finally found a couch that we both loved for a good price where we were looking to spend.

Then I went and found the purple pillows from Burlington Coat Factory that will be our accent color that I thought matched pretty well. We later found a deep purple throw from Costco that matches perfect. I wanted our front room to have character & a comfortable feeling.

So far, it's been achieved, although we've got more to add & change to reach that perfect design & appeal for our family.

Addison turned two about 2 weeks ago!! Already! She's not a baby anymore & she's so smart. She says so many things and repeats many things, (Ahh!) which isn't always a good thing!

For her birthday, we celebrated on October 13th at our place. We had some very close family over. She got some new toys from her family members that she loves to play with which include some of the following: a princess dress-up kit, tickle me elmo, a la la loopsy doll, & a teapot set.

Addison loves to wander around the apartment and get into the DVDs, pots & pans, my makeup (ahh!) & the food in the pantry that she can reach. It's pretty funny, the things she comes up with. But we love her to pieces.

Hopefully I can get back on top of this blogging thing!!

Target

Today was an interesting day, simply because it ended with filing a police report.

Mike and I were at Target looking on the aisle of the Playstation 3 games when a young man walked quickly passed up with his phone held up, as though he was taking a picture. I mentioned to mike, " I think he just took a picture...?" Mike just thought maybe he was taking a picture of a game or something.

We continued shopping. Less than 3 minutes later, down the main aisle near electronics, the game guy walked passed and clearly snapped a picture with his phone toward our direction again. Mike saw this and realized he was really taking pictures of us.

Then, as we were headed to the front to report what we had seen, we saw the guy heading in the direction of the dollar items and I booked it toward him. I slowed down behind and him said "Excuse me, are you taking picture of people??!" as he was attempting to snap a photo at a girl's butt. Grossed out, I was yelling, "get him, security!" as he ran out of the store, dropping his empty target basket on the ground.

Mike and I ended up going to the police department to file a report against this guy. Hopefully Target or some other store nearby can catch him.

This just made me sick to my stomach and wayyy grossed out.

Anyway, that was OUR Saturday :)

Update!!!!

It's been a while since I've updated our blog!! I can't believe it.

I guess once motherhood happened, I got busy!! :)

Mike started nursing school back in May. I'm currently working full time at Old Town Baking Company and I LOVE it!! It keeps me busy while Addison is in daycare. I work in the customer service department. My job is pretty important and I'm a pretty important part of our wholesale sales department. I have very big responsibilities and a lot on my shoulders, so I feel pretty needed and welcome there. I love my coworkers and the bread/product we sell is so tasty!!

Mike is attending American Career College for his LVN. He should be certified next May 2012 and will start looking for jobs after he passes his NCLEX exam. (Spelling?) He's doing so well. He passed his first term with a 91%, one of the highest grades in his class. And he hardly studies! Jealous!! He just hears information and stores it somewhere in there. Then comes the test and he's got it all.

Addison is almost 1 year old now!!! She has 6 teeth and is taking about 5 steps at a time right now. She'll be walking by Halloween, I bet. For Halloween, I'm homemaking her costume. She's going to be a cupcake!! As soon as the costume is complete, I will post pictures of it!! It already looks like it will be very cute! I can't wait to have it done! Whew.

Addison was born and I haven't written since then!!

Things have been pretty hectic lately!! With a new baby and all, I had totally forgotten about our blog until a couple of days ago. I haven't written on here since before she was born.

Anyway, right now, most of us are sick at the house. We're living with Mike's parents right now and my mother in law, Mindy, I, Addison, Mike's brother Josh, our sister in law Jessica and my father in law Rob, have all been sick lately. Hopefully we get over it soon.

Yesterday, Addison started coughing and Mike took her to Kaiser to see what it was that she had. She has a cold, nothing big, so that was a relief. She got weighed at the appointment, too and she's 12 pounds 5 ounces!!

In the passed week, we've gone to Disneyland/Downtown Disney/California Adventure three separate times!! It's really nice having the year pass, although it is pretty expensive! Mike and I took Addison last Thursday after Mike's dental appointment, then Friday night Mike and I went for our date night. We ate dinner at the Jazz Kitchen and it was pretty good. I definitely wasn't dressed to eat there, since he surprised me, but we had a good time. We got beignets and hot cocoa for dessert. Then, we went on Monday with Mindy, Josh, Jessica, our nephew Bryce, and our friend Stephanie Martin and her little boy Matthew, and the baby she watches. It was a lot of fun. I wasn't feeling all that well, but it was still a lot of fun.

We love tax season!! Right now, Mike and I are waiting for our tax returns to pay off some bills and to get some stuff for ourselves with it, as well. We're very excited.

I'll try to remember to update this more often.

Yesterday, something CRAZY happened!

September 21st, Close call!!

by Chelsey Waite on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 5:22pm
I wrote this stuff to friends about what happen today and didn't really have anything more to add right now..But this is what happened this morning with Addison.

"Yeah, she's been happily moving around all day. And the contractions were painful, but not like, UNBEARABLE. They were coming every two/three minutes for about an hour, so I went in and they hooked me up to machines. They were very consiste...nt contractions and so they gave me a shot to try and stop them and it seemed to work the first time. Doctor said I could either be back in a couple days or a couple weeks, it could be whenever. Today, if the shots didn't stop the labor, I would have had her today. No one seemed to be worried that I was only 34 weeks, though. Which was good."

"I had some interesting things happen this morning. I had a couple contractions in the middle of the night and then woke up at 5 am and counted them for an hour. I officially took note of the ones for about 20 minutes and they were about eve...ry 2/3 minutes consistently, so I decided to call. I went in and they gave me a shot to try and stop the contractions since I'm 34 weeks and it seemed to work the first time. They said if I would have gone in during week 35, they wouldn't have given me the shot, they would have just delivered. So, now it's just a matter of time. None of the doctors seemed worried or anything, so it was good. Was in labor and delivery for about 5 hours hooked up to a machine. Fun stuff!!!"

Sorry it's been so long since I last wrote on here!

Love the feeling!

We took maternity pictures in Murrieta when I was 32 weeks and 2 days. Kristin Fuller does such awesome work! If you're interested in more information about her, here's her website.

Gestational Diabetes

The gestational diabetes hasn't been too bad, lately. They've given me some medications to help with the blood sugar levels. I'm on MetFormin and Glyburide. The MetFormin makes it easier to burn the carbs off that I've eaten. It basically gets my metabolism going enough to burn off the carbs. And the Glyburide causes my pancreas to create insulin, which to me is basically an amazing thing to be on if you're type 2 diabetes or gestational diabetic. Ever since I've started taking it, I've been under 100 on my blood tests. in between 60-120 is normal.

Bow Making

I've been pulling out my creative side once again, but in a different way than website design, graphic design, painting, etc. I've started making headbands for Addison and also for me, now. I've been getting TONS of ideas on google images, blogs, etsy, etc. I've signed up to sell things on Etsy and now I just have to decide which ones I will sell and also make more 'cleaner' made things to sell, as well. It's been a ton of fun.

Etsy

http://www.etsy.com/shop/EtsyChels

As of right now, I'm still preparing items and nothing is for sale yet, on there. As of right now, my status is set to "on vacation." I wish it was really vacation!! haha As soon as I get things to put up for sale in my store, I'll be back and ready to sell. Maybe I'll be able to make some extra money from it.

Mike

Right now, Mike's doctors are trying to decide on a surgery date for the next surgery. Last Sunday night, we went into urgent care. He had popped his elbow out of its socket while he was getting on the floor to play with Braven. Braven's our cute 7 month year old nephew. He's adorable!!

So Mike will probably be getting surgery done in the next month or so. Probably around the time Addison will be here.

Baby Showers

I'm so excited for the ward and family/friends showers that are coming up!! I get a little uncomfortable when I'm the center of attention, though. I figured this out when I had my bridal showers. I get a little shy when the cameras and eyes are all on me. I never knew this about myself until just before I got married. haha but I don't have a problem with this. Sister Hillquist and the others helping her are so nice to think of me and give me a baby shower for the women at church. And my mom and sister are so nice to give me one for family and close friends. I'm excited to see everyone at these things at the end of this month.

Gestational Diabetes!!!

Yes, I have it. And it's going to be a tough couple of months for me.. I'll write more about it later.

Also, I've been walking/jogging a little with Mindy (mother in law) and this morning decided that I'm going to run the st. george marathon with them next October...2011. We'll start training next summer for the marathon. I'll start running a LOT more after Addison is here. Until then, I'll continue walking/light jogging until I have her. My goal is to lose weight, look great, and get in shape. As of right now, (even though I'm pregnant) I feel HUGE.. and it's making me reallllly gain the desire to do this for me. I realllly need to keep this desire to lose weight even after I have Addy. Sometimes I lose focus of what I REALLY want and don't think I have enough drive or power to get the job done. BUT I NEED TO REMEMBER TO KEEP MY FOCUS AND LOSE THAT WEIGHT!!

This was taken shortly after Mike proposed. I look pretty thin here, but I want to be even thinner than this (November of 2008)

48 Tips to a Happy Marriage!

I found this list on this website and thought it would be a good one to share with everyone. Whether or not you're in a relationship, or will be in the future, etc. Some of these tips can also help with friendships and family relationships, as well...

http://www.anolitasmind.com/2006/10/25/48-tips-to-a-happy-marriage/

1. Start each day with a kiss ~ I think this one is not that hard; on the contrary; it can be healthy and nice.

2. Wear your wedding ring at all times ~ most couples do wear the ring, however; their reasons might vary, so as long as they think of it as a sign of their commitment to their spouses, then they are on the safe side.

3. Date once a week ~ I believe this one is very healthy; maybe not as often as once a week, let’s say every other week or that a date can be inside your home and that you don’t have to go somewhere fancy to have it, you get the idea, right?

4. Accept differences ~ No one is perfect. However; healthy arguments are good for the relationship, hence; the most important thing would be learning how to compromise with one another.

5. Be polite ~ Please, thank you, you are welcome… these are not only meant for strangers; your own spouse and family should come first and you must always use these phrases inside your home.

6. Be gentle ~ a person is supposed to be the closest to his/her spouse, being gentle is crucial to keep them close enough or they will find that comfort elsewhere.

7. Give gifts ~ nice small gifts are appreciated every once in a while

8. Smile often ~ I would say: Smile Always because it is contagious and you are more likely to be smiled at when you show your teeth more often!!

9. Touch ~ intimacy between married people is very important and touching is a means of communication that reflects closeness, connection and love; it is your way of keeping the spark alive.

10. Talk about dreams ~ dreams of the future that is; if you don’t share your dreams with your spouse; then who?

11. Select a song that can be “our song” ~ this sounds like a cliché, but it can be nice, don’t you think?

12. Give back rubs ~ this means: be comforting both mentally and physically and if you don’t know how to give back rubs and massages; it is time to learn!

13. Laugh together ~ laughter is like smiling and as they say: it is medicine. When you share good laughs together; the fun grows in the relationship and you grow closer and stronger every day.

14. Send a card for no reason ~ another cliché? Maybe, but everyone likes to receive a nice “I love you” or “I miss you” notes every once in a while; it does boost one’s ego, doesn’t it?

15. Do what the other person wants before he or she asks ~ of course; you need to know your spouse so well to be able to do this one. I guess this comes with time as you grow to know each other but seek to get that knowledge; don’t assume that it will come to you!

16. Listen ~ this could be the most important one ever, but note that you should listen with empathy and not just hear what they are saying; you should get involved.

17. Encourage ~ positive support and being there for one another is also very important; seek their support and give them yours and be generous!

18. Do it his or her way ~ sometimes; you need to do things their way just to show how much you love them and respect their feelings.

19. Know his or her needs ~ what good is a spouse if he/she does not know the needs of their significant others? This should be your primary concern!

20. Compliment twice a day ~ everyone likes to hear something nice as a compliment; so give them that when it is due. It should not be literally twice but don’t be extreme by not giving at all or giving too much; just say something nice when you can.

21. Fix the other person’s breakfast ~ it doesn’t have to be breakfast in bed though!

22. Call during the day ~ but don’t over do it and be obsessed with calling him/her. Give them their space but also show them that you think of them by a 2-minutes phone call saying “how are you doing?”

23. Slow down ~ and don’t jump to conclusions; always give the benefit of the doubt and wait to hear them out.

24. Cuddle ~ yes; intimacy is very important and reflects love and deep feelings.

25. Ask for each others’ opinion ~ absolutely; whose opinion would you seek if not your spouse’s? Your decisions will reflect both your lives and not only your own, so their opinion is important for you to make the right move.

26. Show respect ~ all the time; whether you are alone or among others. Showing respect is more important than showing love.

27. Welcome the other person home ~ show enthusiasm when they come home and greet them; this means that you are happy because they are home now and that you were waiting for them!

28. Look your best ~ I understand that this is not easy to implement since we face different situations all day long, however; it does count that you make the effort to look your best every once in a while just for their sake and not only because you are going out or expecting guests, get the point?

29. Wink at each other ~ another cliché? Probably, but it can be any other gesture like smiling their way across the room or dining table, or holding their hand for a minute, just anything that appeals to both of you.

30. Celebrate birthdays in a big way ~ this does not mean a big party; just show them you care about their personal occasions.

31. Apologize ~ and don’t be too stubborn to admit that you made a mistake,
because apologizing can clear things between you and allows you to move on from the conflict in a healthy manner.

32. Forgive ~ from the heart and not only in words; forgive them and mean it.

33. Set up a romantic getaway ~ this sounds like fun every once in a while; no harm in that!

34. Ask, “What can I do to make you happier?” ~ in other words; communicate and keep it going, because one’s needs might change along the way, and what they used to like a couple of years ago might not be appealing to them now; so make sure you ask them what does make them happy and do it.

35. Be positive ~ even when it is a negative era of your lives; always try to show the full half of the cup.

36. Be kind ~ and nice.

37. Be vulnerable ~ let those guards down and show your true colors.

38. Respond quickly to the other person’s request ~ show them that you are doing this because you care for them the most.

39. Talk about your love ~ again; communicate. Always tell them as well as show them how much you love them and how happy you are because of having
them in your lives.

40. Treat each others’ friends and relatives with courtesy ~ even if you don’t like their family and/or friends, you treat them with respect and courtesy for the sake of your spouse; they deserve that much.

41. Send flowers every Valentine’s Day and anniversary ~ or just for the sake of it; flowers can say a lot on your behalf.

42. Admit when wrong ~ don’t be too arrogant to say it.

43. Be sensitive to each other’s sexual desires ~ more importantly; understand these desires and keep the communication going.

44. Pray for each other daily ~ and do it from the heart.

45. Watch sunsets together ~ just share such moments together; it does not have to be sunset; it can be anything else.

46. Say “I love you” frequently ~ don’t assume that they know you love them; everyone likes to hear it, so say it!

47. End the day with a hug ~ show closeness and again; intimacy.

48. Seek outside help when needed ~ if you reach a point when you feel that you cannot solve the problem alone; seek the help of someone you both trust before giving up, or go for professional help as a last resort. Never feel ashamed of that; seeking help is a lot better than giving up and doing your very best to solve your issues. You owe it to yourself and to them to do that.

July 2, 2010

So June 22 to June 26, I had the opportunity to be a camp leader at girl's camp for our church. It was a lot of work walking up and down hills, but I'm glad I was able to go. It was a lot of fun and I got to see my sister, Nicole, grow a lot there, too. Hopefully she'll be able to take what she learned, remember it, and apply it to life. My parents were happy she had a good time. They actually went to the after-camp fireside with her, as well. We weren't able to make it to the fireside since we had family birthdays that night in Walnut. :) It's so fun. We go over to mike's uncle Wally's house, eat dinner, hang out with the family and talk/chat with whoever, then they light the candles on the cake one at a time for the people who had a birthday in those passed three months. It was my turn so Mike and I got our picture taken in front of the cake :) Shake it like a POLAROID PICTURE!

This is mike helping at girls camp with the Bebe gun shooting. He and his dad came up on Wednesday night to be the male leaders up there for a day. His dad ended up leaving at 7 am the next morning and Mike ended up staying all day until Thursday night, when Rob, his dad would come back up and help with constellation searching. I was happy Mike stayed longer. Really happy.

I think we took this before camp. We went to Target to get stuff I needed for camp and saw this cute little onesie for Addison. We didn't end up getting it, but we thought it was hilarious. And SOO cute!

I got some birthday money and wanted to use it on myself instead of bills. Everytime I get gift money, it seems to go to bills and food/other stuff. But this time, I was hoping to use it on something I could enjoy so I got a french pedicure!! :) During the hot oil massage, I almost fell asleep lol

SO....What's New?

I've been really busy and haven't been able to write much for a little while...on here. lol If you keep up with me on facebook, I'm sure you'll see I post about a billion things a day on there. ;)

This is sort of ...big news...but I'm just gonna go ahead and say it. In April, my parents decided they were going to be getting a divorce and would have to sell their house and get apartments. I personally think it will be for the best.

Mike and I moved in with them last October 2009 and our new plan is to move into his parents house for now. So now we're in the Alder ward with his parents and Rafa and Amanda and their cute son Logan. I'm so excited we're with them!!

I got a new calling as a Assistant to the Camp director in the Stake. We've had a lot of meetings, but we're doing our best to make sure girl's camp is the best for these girls and that their experience is the best and most organized as possible. The closer we get to girls camp, the more excited I get. I'll be going there for the entire week of June 22nd, through June 26th. My hubby's going to be spending the night up there in the middle of the week, and I'm excited for him to come up for that.

Mike's had three surgeries since April 28th, and has been on disability since then.
  • April 28th to get the skin graph removed
  • April 29th to do the 'flap'. It was a pretty big surgery and we do have pictures, but they might be too graphic to post on here. It might cause a few of you to pass out.
  • May 19th for the detaching of the flap. (FREEDOM FOR MIKE'S ARM!)
  • and today, June 11th to finish up the surgery
In between surgeries April 28th and May 19th, he was stuck in his hospital room for that entire time. He got up to walk around a few times a day, but really wasn't allowed outside. We would bring him some meals from 'outside' so he wouldn't have to eat the hospital food everyday. He would put on his arm brace for comfortably walking around the hospital. He was finally discharged on May 20th and was able to come home. It was a long time and we had to learn lessons of patience and waiting.

He was out just in time for my appointment on my birthday on May 24th!! We got to find out the gender of the baby and I'm pregnant with a girl!!!

 19 weeks pregnant

We've been trying to decide on names for her and I'm pretty sure we've decided on one.

Addison Paige Waite

We really like it. :)

That's pretty much the summary of what's happened between my last post and now. If I think of anything else, I'll come and add it :)

One Year Today!

It's been a year already since we were married!!

Yesterday, Saturday April 17th, Mike and I went out for our anniversary and did some pretty fun stuff.

We went to my brother Drew's game out near Balboa Park and watched him pitch for a couple innings.

Then we went to Coronado Island where we had tons of fun as well. We went to eat at this little place called Miguelito's which was absolutely yummy!

We walked around the island passing some shops and hotels, on our way to the beach. There were a few weddings happening on or near the beach, actually.

Mike went searching for crabs and fish in the water next to the rocks and waves.

After that, we headed back to the car, but before we left, we stopped at this place that made crepes, (which I ABSOLUTELY LOVE) so I just had to try one!!

Wedding Scrapbook Pages So Far...

These are the scrapbooking pages I've completed thus far, but I'm still working on it. It's not in any particular order on this blog, but it is in my actual book. You might be able to see the numbered pages on the bottom of each page...
The Beginning page
Parents of the Bride and Groom page
There were ladybugs everywhere and they kept landing on me the entire time we were by the temple. It was pretty awesome, but really simple. That's why I've titled this page "enjoy the simple things."
Garter Toss
And under the pictures of us, I put the chorus of the song we danced to. We danced to "Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat.

Our DJ was Bradly Havard, mike's cousin. It was so much fun to mess around!

Bouquet Toss. My best bud Emily caught the bouquet :)

And We Went Running!!

2/5/10

Friday Morning

We got up early today! Mostly because my sister had her entire softball team over to do their 'initiations' for the upcoming freshman on the team. They call their parents to make sure it's okay to surprise them at 4 am and put weird clothes and hats on them for an entire day to welcome them to the team. I'm not quite sure how 'welcoming' it really is, though.

So they left at 4 this morning and left to get the girls. They came back with them all and, being about 13-15 girls in the house, it got pretty loud. Oddly enough, I think we should consider it a blessing, though.

We've been talking about 'going running' again and 'excersizing more often' but haven't woken up early enough to do it, or gotten dressed in running clothes to run at night. So Mike and I were up pretty early. Around 6 am. But decided to take advantage of it and go running!!!

So there we were as a couple running at 6:30 am in the fresh air. It was pretty nice.

Holidays! Recap On January 4th, 2009

It's been a little while since I last wrote and a lot has happened actually. It might be a long blog!

The last time I wrote was about three or four days after Thanksgiving. A lot has happened since then and I'll try to write about all the main important events.

Work for me was pretty insane from Thanksgiving and on. Working retail for the holiday season is pretty crazy and pretty draining. Going, going, going, angry customers, happy customers, 5 questions at once, 10 people in line, ahhh, for 7-8 hour shifts. For anyone to know really how crazy retail is during the holidays, they'd have to work it and see for themselves...lol

My brother in law Jenner came home from army boot camp the week before Christmas. It was fun to see him and also exciting for Melissa (Mike's sister) and their son Strider to be their dad and hubby again, as well. The Sunday before Christmas, we went to eat dinner at Jenner's parents house in Orange County. It was a nice, chill night to go there and eat dinner and hang out with his family. His mom scrapbooks (And she's VERY GOOD!!) and so when they gave us a tour of the house, they walked us into her 'scrapping room.' That was fun to see! A whole room dedicated to scrapping? That's awesome!

Last year, we were with my family on Christmas Eve and Mike's family on Christmas day, so this year we switched it up a little bit. On Christmas Eve day, I got off work at 3 pm and headed home to get ready for that night. We went over to Mike's parents house to make personal panned pizzas! It was so fun and they were REALLY good!! We just put dough in Marie Calendars pie pans and layered our fav toppings on top. It was a really fun idea and they turned out really good. We opened presents to and from Mike's family that night.

Here's the one I made...Mozzarella Cheese, Black Olive, Mushroom...yummm

His parents got me photoshop!! And I got some ugg-type boots from my brother in law, as well. Mike had been given a remote control helicopter, which he was just wayy excited about.

Christmas day, we were with my family the majority of the time. In the morning, we woke up early to open presents with the family. My parents got Mike and I our own little fridge for our room! Also, Mike got me some new American Eagle skinny jeans. I've never owned a pair of skinny jeans either, mostly because it's hard to find some that fit just right, but the ones he got me I love so much!

After presents and some lemon muffins at my parents house, we drove to Walnut to Mike's uncles house to do what they call 'tree time' and have breakfast. I had some yummy biscuits with white gravy on top and it was delish!! And Aunt Victoria made some cookies, too and made us up a plate. They were so good! Also, Aunt Carol Ann made all the girls necklaces. They took an hour to make each one, so she spent soo much time making them. She made all different colors for the girls, so we all got to choose which color we wanted. I chose the neutral browns/beige colored one. We got to visit with Aunt Carol and Grandma and Grandpa Waite for a while before we left, also. Carol always has some nice stories to tell us.

After Christmas in Walnut, we drove to Alta Loma to Mike's other grandma's house to stop in an say hello there, also.

Then, we came back to my parents house to play games and have Christmas ham dinner. We got a new game that's absolutely so random and hilarious called Quelf. Perfect party game. lol It has you do the most random stuff ever.

New Years Eve, we were at Mike's parents house eating finger foods and playing games until the big 2010 celebration. We played the New Super Mario Brothers game for Wii that we got my sisters for Christmas. I think Mike and I were more excited for them to open that present than anyone lol. We kept having the urge to open the wrapped gift for them, to play it and then rewrap it again. But, we held out and waited until Christmas. haha

We found out just a few weeks ago, Mike's going to be having a another surgery coming up. This will be one of a minimum of 3 surgeries. They're going to be doing another skin graft procedure to his arm that will have him out of work for about 3 weeks. This surgery will be on Wednesday, January 13th. I'm a little scared for him, but at the same time, it's just another step closer to his arm being better off. Just another step to getting him closer to other surgeries that will help him maybe have less pain in the future.

Being a new year, I'm now covered on his health plan as well! That was pretty exciting for us.

Funny story...

For Christmas, Mike wanted a new cell phone. The new...DROID...from Motorolla for Verizon Wireless. Let me give you some synonyms for the word want.

want

v.

  1. To desire

desire, require, aspire, hanker after, have an urge for, incline toward, fancy, covet, crave, long for, lust for, have a fondness for, have a passion for, have ambition, thirst after, hunger after, be greedy for, ache*, have a yen for*, have an itch for*.

Mike wanted a DROID.

We had a little Christmas tree in our room with our presents for eachother wrapped and ready for Christmas day. Mike kept hearing a beeping sound coming from that area in our room and was flipping out to know if it was a Droid cell phone in one of the boxes that was dying or running out of battery or something. He was worried I'd be upset that my surprise for him wasn't a surprise anymore when I found out he heard the beeping.

Turns out, that beeping sound my cell phone that I had forgotten to take to work with me on the dresser next to the Christmas tree with the presents surrounding. When he got the text from an unexepected number telling him that I'd left my phone at home, he was bummed out, because then he knew it was my phone beeping. Not a Droid for Christmas.

He didn't end up getting the Droid for Christmas, but under some other circumstances, we were able to last Saturday. And they also had a deal, buy a Droid, get a Droid Eris for free, after the rebate. So turns out, we both ended up getting new phones and we're both obsessed with them! There are all kinds of free applications and games, etc. We even put all of our scriptures for church on there for free, as well. Along with our class manuals, and any other manuals you'd want. You can get the Engisn Magazine on there, Seminary Scripture Mastery cards, along with Temple Prep manuals, etc. It's absolutely awesome.

This is the Droid Eris (the one we got free with the purchase of a Droid)

And this is the Droid

November 29th, Sunday Night

Today was a very relaxing day I'd say. Which, I believe, was very needed. It's been a very long and busy week. I've actually caught a cold too....again :( I'm guessing the cold came from the weird work hours and weather. Today, I took some medicine and a long nap and I'm hoping it goes away quickly.

Earlier this week, Wednesday night, the night before Thanksgiving, we went over to Mike's parents house to spend the night there. The plan was we'd be leaving for Disneyland early Thanksgiving Day at 6 am and it'd be easier if we just stayed the night there. We wanted t0o be one of the first people in the park. Rachel and Jeremy, Mike's sister and brother-in-law came to visit from Utah for the Holiday, so we wanted to spend as much time with them as possible since we really don't get that much time with them.

Thanksgiving day was a lot of fun. The lines weren't bad at all! We probably rode over 12 rides or so that day.

Mike and I had to leave sort of early in the night so I could come home and get some sleep before the crazy Black Friday shopping rush at work. We got home around 9:15p Thanksgiving night, so I fell asleep around 9:30p. We were scheduled to open at 4 am, and I was scheduled to be in at 3:30, so I woke up around 2:10a to get ready.

It was a very long and exhausting day for me. They had me scheduled to work the electronics department along with another cashier from 3:30a to 12:15p. I'm a cashier in the store usually and I've never worked electronics before, so they set me up for a training day the day before the Holiday to train me a little bit on in-depth electronics 'stuff'. They don't usually have cashiers help in electronics, but they decided they wanted to change things up by adding some cashiers to that department for more help. They figured it'd be less chaotic.

I got home around 12:45 that afternoon, took care of some stuff and went to Mike's parents to be with everyone for a bit. I crashed around 5 or 6p on the couch and slept for quite a while there. Around 11 I went home, went back to bed and woke up early again to be at work by 6:45 Saturday morning. That was a pretty crazy day, too. Long and busy, but I guess that's what comes along with working retail during the Holidays. lol

Last night, we went to see New Moon with Rafa and Amanda. I actually really enjoyed the movie! I liked it better than the first one. I haven't read the books, and probably never will read them, but I don't mind seeing the movies. Mike and I actually just watched the first Twilight movie two weeks ago and was better than we thought it would be.

November 15, 2009

Today was our first day with the Oleander Ward. They've combined two wards from the stake and now we're in a big ward! For the first year of living in Fontana, we've been in pretty small wards compared to what I'm used to in Murrieta, so I'm very excited to have a big ward again! Mike wasn't used to it.

We sang in the choir for the closing song today, while the congregation would join us for the last verse. We walked up when they called the choir up and when we got up there, we had about 30 people up there with us.
Mike wasn't used to the congregation still being pretty packed, even with the choir up there to sing. He's seen it like that with a stake event, but not a ward event, at least not anytime recently.

(mike and I messing with the new laptop back in May or so..)

My brother came to visit us in Fontana this weekend so it was nice to see him on Friday night and Saturday a little bit. I probably haven't seen him in a couple months. Him and I were pretty close growing up. We were the Best of friends, so seeing him on the weekends is always nice.

more laptop fun...

Friday the 13th, oooohhh

So, it's been a while since I wrote last.

At the end of September, we moved in with my parents and got out of the apartment. Since then, I'd say it's been nice.

Works going good. The hours are picking up just a little bit for the holidays. We've hired a lot of new seasonal cashiers and it's been a lot of fun training and making new friends. Throughout the year, it's mostly just one cashier per area. But, for the holidays, they put about two or three cashiers per area to ring up customers, and it's been really pretty nice to have back up cashiers. The people we hired are really good, too. They know what they're doing and they're catching on quick.

The store manager of our store created a new team at work called the Next Generation team and they've chosen some of the top associates to run this new team. I've been chosen by the operations manager to participate in the team. Basically, what we do is come up with ideas to get help the customers get more familiar with what's on sale and help drive sales in a fun way. Such as doing demonstrations by making smoothies with the blender on sale, or popcorn with the popcorn popper on sale. Also, putting balloons and signing above the sale items to make it more clear to customers what the special of the day is, etc.

Mike's job has gotten pretty busy these past couple weeks, working more hours. They've been getting pretty busy with the glass shop.

Mike's thumb and elbow have been causing him pain doing everyday things. On September 24th, he got a cortisone shot by his plastic surgeon, which didn't quite seem to help the pain at all. It was supposed to be a series of three shots, but the doctor told us that if it didn't help the first time, she wouldn't do it again and they'd result to something else. Also, he's found out that someday he'll have to get Tommy Johns surgery to reconnect the ligaments in his elbow.

Thanksgiving is coming up in a few weeks. Last year, we were in Arizona with my aunt and uncle, so this year it's Mike's family's turn. Thanksgiving day, we might possibly be going to Disneyland. Hopefully it's not going to be as busy as I've heard it is on Thanksgiving Day. lol
Rachel and Jeremy will be coming to California for Thanksgiving, so I think it depends on if they want to do Disneyland or not that day. If we do end up going, I'm totally craving a big chicken leg. Yumm

On Halloween (exactly one year after Mike and I had been engaged) , we hung out with our good friends Amanda and Rafa. We met up with them at our favorite chinese place, Chopsticks House. They brought their baby Rafa Logan with them so that was really a lot of fun. We always love seeing him. He's adorable.

After we ate, we met up at the combined ward trunk or treat activity and walked around for a little bit. We probably weren't there that long, but after that, they went to take Logan home and they'd meet back up at our house to watch a scary movie. While they took him, Mike and I went to Stater Bros to get candy. And we GOT candy. We got a LOT of candy. When you get Mike on a candy aisle, be careful. He LOVES candy. lol

Last Sunday, the ward boundaries changed and we were combined with another ward, basically. I'm totally excited because now we have a bigger ward, with more ladies in RS and more kids in Primary and YM/YW. So this Sunday is the first day combined, so we'll see how it goes!

September 15th, 2009 Tuesday

Things at work are going good for me, except for the hours getting cut. I'm only really working three days out of the week right now. They hired a new girl and so everyone's hours went down a bit. But, it's okay for now. It just means I have some more time to pack up the apartment. And it means I still have a job.

We're counting down! Almost time to be out of the apartment. We plan on being at my parents house by Sept 24th...(wow, less than ten days!) so we've just been packing up everything and moving stuff over little by little.

I'm excited to go to the new ward in October. I'm guessing our first day in the Live Oak Ward will be either October 4th, or October 11th, depending on if we're in town on the 4th or not. We might possibly be in St. George on the 4th. Well, it's General Conference on Oct 4th, anyway so most likely, it will be the 11th.

Mike's parents run marathons, 10 ks, and 5 ks, and they plan on running in St. George the first weekend of October this year.

I went with them last year and had tons of fun with their family. Mike and I weren't even engaged yet at the time, now that I think of it. (We got engaged Oct 31st) Times flies so fast!
Last year, we stayed with Derek and Sindy in their new house and had some Sonic's (YUM)
We all agree we should get a Sonic's here in Fontana

Disneyland for Friday's Date Night

August 10th was our day to register for classes at Chaffey. So, that day, we went online and no classes were available. So, turns out we have to wait until next semester to start schooling.

We went to Disneyland last night with Mike's parents and brother Josh. I love going to Disneyland at night. It's a lot of fun. We did space mountain, got dessert, then went to the Tiki Room! I guess it's been at Disneyland for the longest time and considering how often I've been to Disneyland, I had no idea what the Tiki Room was until last night. The best part was when they made it rain and thunder.

Stake Boys Day Camp

I got the day off, and I did not even request it! I love having Saturdays off!! Love it

Today, the stake had a boys day camp activity at the stake center. Mike's dad helped make foil dinners and pineapple upside down cake. It was fun to run around outdoors for a couple hours. We played some soccer, football, and also played with Sister Miller's marshmallow guns.

Our nephew Strider kept putting his ball under his shirt so that he looked pregnant, excited for Melissa's pregnancy! He keeps saying he wants a baby brother.

Strider was acting like a bird, what a goofball!

Do you know the way to San Jose?

So, last Tuesday (a week ago) my brother Andrew was pitching for his Pony Palomino team. He was pitching the fastest he's ever pitched. Normally, he's in the high 80s and his highest around 91 mph. But last Tuesday/Wednesday he was throwing so good! They said he definitely hit 93 and quite possibly hit 94 mph. They won their game on Wednesday, which would put them in the Pony World Series for the following weekend. So, my family and Mike and I all drove to San Jose to see him play on Saturday at 5 pm against Puerto Rico.

When Mike and I are getting ready for a long drive somewhere or a vacation, we stock up on snacks and junk food. So Friday, we went to target to stock up. We probably bought enough snacks for a three week trip.

We left for San Jose around 6:30 on Saturday morning and got to the hotel around 1:00. We went swimming a little bit before Drew's game at 5. Drew had pitched 19 innings in one week and was completely wiped out by the time this game came around. They didn't end up winning against Puerto Rico, but it was fun to get away for the weekend. Lots of driving, but it was really fun.

And we'd only be gone for two days, Saturday and Sunday, only staying the night for one night. So now we have lots of junk food left over.

(And we were eating so good!)

Mike laughed when he saw about 20 of these signs in a lot of empty fields on the way
