So, it's been a while since I wrote last.
At the end of September, we moved in with my parents and got out of the apartment. Since then, I'd say it's been nice.
Works going good. The hours are picking up just a little bit for the holidays. We've hired a lot of new seasonal cashiers and it's been a lot of fun training and making new friends. Throughout the year, it's mostly just one cashier per area. But, for the holidays, they put about two or three cashiers per area to ring up customers, and it's been really pretty nice to have back up cashiers. The people we hired are really good, too. They know what they're doing and they're catching on quick.
The store manager of our store created a new team at work called the Next Generation team and they've chosen some of the top associates to run this new team. I've been chosen by the operations manager to participate in the team. Basically, what we do is come up with ideas to get help the customers get more familiar with what's on sale and help drive sales in a fun way. Such as doing demonstrations by making smoothies with the blender on sale, or popcorn with the popcorn popper on sale. Also, putting balloons and signing above the sale items to make it more clear to customers what the special of the day is, etc.
Mike's job has gotten pretty busy these past couple weeks, working more hours. They've been getting pretty busy with the glass shop.
Mike's thumb and elbow have been causing him pain doing everyday things. On September 24th, he got a cortisone shot by his plastic surgeon, which didn't quite seem to help the pain at all. It was supposed to be a series of three shots, but the doctor told us that if it didn't help the first time, she wouldn't do it again and they'd result to something else. Also, he's found out that someday he'll have to get Tommy Johns surgery to reconnect the ligaments in his elbow.
Thanksgiving is coming up in a few weeks. Last year, we were in Arizona with my aunt and uncle, so this year it's Mike's family's turn. Thanksgiving day, we might possibly be going to Disneyland. Hopefully it's not going to be as busy as I've heard it is on Thanksgiving Day. lol
Rachel and Jeremy will be coming to California for Thanksgiving, so I think it depends on if they want to do Disneyland or not that day. If we do end up going, I'm totally craving a big chicken leg. Yumm
On Halloween (exactly one year after Mike and I had been engaged) , we hung out with our good friends Amanda and Rafa. We met up with them at our favorite chinese place, Chopsticks House. They brought their baby Rafa Logan with them so that was really a lot of fun. We always love seeing him. He's adorable.
After we ate, we met up at the combined ward trunk or treat activity and walked around for a little bit. We probably weren't there that long, but after that, they went to take Logan home and they'd meet back up at our house to watch a scary movie. While they took him, Mike and I went to Stater Bros to get candy. And we GOT candy. We got a LOT of candy. When you get Mike on a candy aisle, be careful. He LOVES candy. lol
Last Sunday, the ward boundaries changed and we were combined with another ward, basically. I'm totally excited because now we have a bigger ward, with more ladies in RS and more kids in Primary and YM/YW. So this Sunday is the first day combined, so we'll see how it goes!
It's fun to read what you guys are up to!
